Removable Prostheses
When it comes to removable dental prostheses, we think of prostheses that can be inserted and removed. Although there are many treatment options where we can plan a fixed prosthesis for the patient today, some conditions may require the use of removable prostheses. In these cases, a well-planned removable prosthesis with tissue compatibility and planning will facilitate patient adaptation.
Today, removable prostheses;
- Multiple tooth losses
- When sufficient bone volume is not created in implant treatment
- When implant treatment is not an option for the patient
it is a prosthesis of choice.
In the absence of all teeth, total prosthesis is called partial prosthesis in cases where some teeth are in the mouth.
In order for the removable dental prosthesis to be healthy and long-lasting, the issues that the patient should pay attention to in use are as follows:
- It must be removed every night after the final cleaning
- Should be cleaned after each meal
- Special materials should be used in cleaning, toothbrushes and toothpaste should never be used.
Tissue incompatibilities can be seen when the first prosthesis is used. A dentist should be consulted as soon as possible to eliminate this condition.
Shelled foods should not be tried to be broken with prosthesis, and if possible, plucking should not be done.
Routine control should not be interrupted every 6 months and should be evaluated by the physician every 4 years for the necessity of renewal.
Fixed Prostheses
In cases where tooth deficiency is limited, the supporting teeth are shrunk at the optimal level and the materials such as ceramics, zirconium, metal-supported ceramics are the prostheses that are not attached and removed by gluing the support teeth with special adhesives to include the missing tooth area.
